Compliance : An over-riding and critical consideration

SAP Governance, Risk and Compliance:

SAP offer the GRC solution that covers a number of areas and types of compliance. This includes risk management, process controls, access controls, global trade services, environmental health and safety controls. Below we describe the Access Control component of SAP GRC. We can provide further information and consulting services in all areas of the SAP GRC product. 

The Access Control suite allows organizations to audit their own system to check if there are segregation of duties issues with their ERP solution. Both internal and external audits can be expensive to run, however with this solution, the audit can be done on an ad hoc basis enabling the IS team to take more control of their systems and reducing the costs of external agencies auditing their systems.

The key word is CONTROL. Do you want to know that your business is being run correctly and that a user does not have authorizations that could enable fraud? Do you want to know that the current business process you utilize daily are consistent and don't lead your organization to RISK.  Some organizations feel that auditors are taking up too much of their time. The GRC suite once implemented will reduce the amount of time for internal and external audits for the Segregation of Duty.

Failure to meet SOD issues will lead to a note being forced onto your accounts and if you are a publicly listed company this could affect your share price. Potentially wiping 2 or 3% of your Market capitalization value.
