Upgrade Factory

The Bluefin Solutions Upgrade Factory

If you are considering a SAP upgrade today then you are likely to be asking yourself two significant questions:

  1. What is the Return on Investment (ROI) on a SAP upgrade - and therefore how can budget be best allocated to an upgrade?
  2. How is it possible to manage an upgrade with a high degree of certainty around the cost while avoiding any additional risk around steady-state support?

The Bluefin Solutions Upgrade Factory looks to answer these two questions with a fixed fee, two-step approach.

Step 1 - Assessment and planning

This step focuses on understanding your organisation, your business processes and your technical environment. The process is tailored to the needs of your upgrade and takes into account the following elements:

  • Technical Environment.
  • Unicode Conversion.
  • Reversion of custom programming back to standard SAP.
  • New business processes & projects.
  • Training and change management.

The output of the assessment and planning step is as follows:

  • Value engineering and ROI calculation.
  • Project plan.
  • Roles and responsibilities assignment.
  • Fixed price for Step 2.

Step 1 is available for a fixed fee, which varies by SAP technology platform and by the nature of the upgrade, so please contact us to find out more.

Step 2 - Upgrade realisation

There are a number of elements that Bluefin Solutions offers to assist with the upgrade realisation once your plan is in place. Upgrades vary from place to place and in shape, size and scale, but there are some common problems areas:

Problem: Your Basis team is busy doing business as usual and doesn't have the time to perform the upgrade.

Solution: Bluefin's NetWeaver team has extensive experience in multiple lifecycles of upgrades and migrations and many are OS/DB Migration Certified. They can help your internal team with the transition to supporting the new system.

Problem: Your internal team is trained on the old version and hasn't the time to invest on extra SAP development.

Solution: Bluefin Solutions runs the latest SAP products itself - usually in Ramp Up (the SAP beta programme) - and we work closely with SAP product development. This means that we upgrade our own systems before yours and build detailed project plans that we bring to bear on your project at no extra cost.

Problem: Your SAP Landscape TCO is low, but you don't have the resources or business case to reduce it further.

Solution: We know that SAP Solution Manager is more than just a monitoring tool and we will help you bring its strengths to bear as part of your upgrade project - enabling TCO reduction in your SAP landscape as part of the upgrade.

Problem: You need your upgrade to happen fast and can't afford downtime, but don't want to pay double time for night shifts.

Solution: Bluefin's offshore team allows us to deliver upgrades at a lower cost - and where required - at three times the throughput, because we can keep the upgrade running 24/7.
