From 20th – 22nd May 2008, an intrepid band of Bluefinians (usually office based technology consultants) took part in a 3-day cycle ride from Liverpool to London, with the aim of raising £5000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The team consisted of 8 cyclists and one support driver – Helen Fenton, Dan Hawker, Andrew Brown, Tony Harper, Jan Van Ansem, Gabriel Matesanz, Peter Conway, Andy Wilson, and Nick Heath for support.

Together they tackled a gruelling 265 mile journey, starting at Bluefin's Liverpool office and finishing at Bluefin's office in Kew, London. The designated route took them from Liverpool, down to Shrewsbury, towards Oxford, and into London on the Western approach.

Quotes from the team prior to the challenge:

Nick Heath: "I have been engaged in a punishing training schedule with the Bluefin S-Max Support Vehicle for over two weeks. Initially practising with short drives of about 5 miles, I have now completed a 75 mile run along similar roads to those we will be using in May. I’m now quietly confident of outpacing the others come the main event. In further preparation in the coming weeks, I will be checking out the inventory in the first aid kit, learning to use the sat-nav, testing the 12V cool box and watching the cycling on Channel 4."

Peter Conway: "As a keen cyclist this is a great opportunity to raise money for Macmillan in memory of my Dad who died recently from bladder cancer."
