Project Background

Cable and Wireless are mature SAP users, and have been live with SAP BW since 2001.

Bluefin worked with Cable and Wireless in 2005 / 2006 to deliver a Global Spend Analysis solution using SAP BW, sourcing from multiple systems - SAP and non-SAP. The solution was delivered within 3 months, and came in under budget. The geographical scope was global, from Macau to Panama.

• Flexible platform that can change as the business model changes
• Elimination of central manual steps to consolidate the information
• Ability to load and manage data devolved to the users that own that data, reducing the lead time for consolidated global spend
• Intuitive dashboard analytical applications to a broad range of audiences, improving transparency of information - from the Head of Procurement to individual Buyers
• Little or no desktop support needed due to the use of web reporting

The GSA Project has provided the Global team unique insight and visibility of the disparate systems operated at C&W, and now provides powerful consolidated Management Information of a quality unthinkable before GSA!

Process

An initial scoping workshop of day resulted in a clear scope and cost, with identified risks and issues at the outset. This was made possible by leveraging the deep experience of Bluefin's people in Telecoms and Procurement within the Business Intelligence space.

The project then followed Bluefin's best practice approach to delivery, resulting in a fully live solution within budget and on time. This was against a backdrop of managing users across a number of time zones and cultures, in a period of immense business change, made possible by Bluefin's relationship-oriented approach and focus on the customer, where 'Partnership' is the watchword.

Knowledge transfer, as always, was a core component of the project, and the CW team were very quickly able to understand the new data model, and create dashboard-style applications for a range of audiences within the organisation.

The Bluefin Team have delivered a First Class solution to the C&W Group P&SC team, providing exceptional support to the BAU team and a sustainable process which will yield tremendous value to the C&W Businesses.
