Smart strategic thinking Print E-mail

In the current deteriorating economic environment most organisations are under mounting pressure to lower costs, limit spending and reduce next year’s budget.  Specifically we see new initiatives are being slowed down and replaced by the tactic 'Make do and Mend.'

But the smart thinkers are delivering lasting strategic change with smaller initiatives. Over the last few months, bluefin has found innovative ways of working with organisations to extract more value from their SAP assets. For example:

Billing Reporting: One organisation was considering a substantial systems implementation to improve billing quality by replacing numerous legacy billing systems with a single SAP instance.  Instead the company delivered 80% of the benefits at a fraction of the cost, by implementing a billing reporting system providing a single view of all invoices.

Reducing Disk Space:
Through careful review of the overall information architecture and process management, it is often possible to dramatically reduce disk space usage. One organisation was able to deliver a substantial and immediate ROI through a strategic review of its BI Architecture. This halved the disk space needed, eliminating the need to invest in more storage.

Performance Improvement:
Another organisation had anticipated the need to upgrade, but following an optimisation review identified how substantial performance improvements could be gained. Implementing them removed the need to upgrade server hardware.

Headcount Reduction: Sadly a number of organisations are being forced to assess headcount and establish the need to downsize.  To allow managers to make informed decisions and accurately downsize, it’s really important to have the ability to report and model headcount reductions.  SAP HCM is an essential element to analyse the impact of change programs.  bluefin has been working with several organisation supporting and implementing SAP HCM to deliver immediate and long term results.

Enhancing contact centre efficiency:
At one organisation bluefin identified a series of small, cost effective changes that significantly improved efficiency of use, including call time of an SAP Interaction Centre implementation.

Improved e-Mail handling:
At another organisation bluefin implemented web forms and advanced email handling functionality. This improved customer service levels as well as the number of queries resolved on first contact.

So smart thinking can drive change - it can be done incrementally, cost effectively, and, at the same time, strategically. That has to be good news.
