Hybris Cloud for Customer 1611: what’s changed in reporting?

What does the 1611 release of Hybris Cloud for Customer (C4C) mean for you as an end user analysing data? In a nutshell: increased accessibility and control to the data you need. Before the release, the reporting capabilities in C4C were flexible, however access in the Responsive User Interface (RUI) for the end user was a little restricted, with only administrators having permissions to perform certain tasks. It is now possible for end users to have more influence and choice over the views and selections they can create.

Actions on report worklist

Pre 1611, it wasn’t possible to have quick links to reports and views as with other objects and records. An Actions column has now been added into the report worklist so that reports and views can be added to the Flag and Favourite lists for quick and easy access with one click. The final action allows for the report to be opened in Excel directly from the report worklist instead of having to navigate into the report first.

Add Fields

Before the release, it was the responsibility of the system administrators to choose which characteristics and key figures from the data source were available in the report.

Direct from the data source, the end user can now view and add from the total available fields, eradicating a request process and saving time. In addition, a frequent frustration was the limit on the fields available for selection, which was previously controlled by administrators. An end user can now expose as many fields as they like from the data source for selection, further creating efficiencies in a request process:

Attributes of a field

Additional data is available for analysis to an end user by allowing for attributes of a field to be added into a report view. Report views can now be made more specific and the user has increased flexibility from the same reports and data sources. For example, when adding fields to a view in the usual way, I can tick Account and then click on the highlighted Account field as below:

Report filters

Filters can now be applied in the RUI for quick ad hoc analysis by restricting values for chosen characteristics. For example, the screenshot shows a report which brings back all the opportunity information that is related to Accounts with an ABC Classification of A or C:

Chart navigation

Navigation from a chart report view to another report is now enabled allowing for a better user experience. Navigation between reports was only available using a table view prior to this new feature.

Key figures as a row field

Before the release, it was only possible to have a characteristic as a column field; a key figure could not be a row field. This has now changed which means even more flexibility for creating report views. An example of this in use is if you needed to visualise the probability of an opportunity across different sources.

Field settings

Individual settings are available for both key figures, as well as characteristics, which gives the end user even more freedom when creating views, without the need of an administrator. For characteristics, result rows can be added and the field can be displayed with a description and/or ID, or not shown at all. The default sorting and hierarchy settings for the characteristic is also maintained here.

Key figures, number of decimal places, scale, and whether the positive/negative sign is to be reversed can be maintained by selecting on the actions button next to the key figure, as above with characteristics.

Finally, funnel charts have become available giving users another way to represent data:

It’s definitely fair to say that this release has brought some exciting new features and functionality to reporting in the RUI. It gives end users more freedom and flexibility to analyse data without the need to go through a request process with system administrators. Creating efficiencies and providing an even more powerful reporting tool for end users can only be beneficial. This enables them to effectively track progress, predict trends, control costs, and provide transparency for informed decisions.
