Chris Smith

Head of Public Sector & Services -

Despite working for a technology consultancy I am not a technologist; I’m all about working through my team to help organisations achieve their business objectives. As Bluefin’s Head of Public Sector and Services, I work closely with my team of talented individuals to ensure our clients – whether it be a local government organisation, a professional services firm or travel company - save time and money through better use of SAP and other technologies.

I have over 25 years of delivering innovative technology solutions across a variety of industries and project sizes, ranging from 100k to £20m+. It’s not the technology that excites me; it’s helping my clients achieve their strategic and operational objectives by establishing and exploiting new and creative digital strategies.

Clients I have worked with include: First Group, GSK, Royal Mail, Serco and HMRC. I also love helping people achieve what is hidden within them. This is possibly one reason why I’ve spent 10 years training youth rugby teams. It’s this passion which drives me at work to help both my current team and the client teams we work with, excel.

I am equally passionate about delivering excellent customer service: never more so than now as the Public Sector becomes more commercial and accountable for the services it delivers. I strongly believe that in order to deliver excellent customer services, organisations, public or private, have no choice but to utilise mobile technology within their service or product delivery. Consumers are becoming far more demanding and knowledgeable, and any organisation which ignores mobile technology does so at its peril.

The phrase “don’t be just be happy with having satisfied customers, but aim for raving fans” has stuck with me for many years.
